Marissa Baietto Immigration Diary

Dear Diary,
Last week Scott and I visited my parents. As I talked about previously, I needed to bring along special documents so that I would not lose my place in line to get a working permit. My parents seemed to love Scott and had plenty of questions of how I liked America. We also visited some sights, and we had a great time.
When flying back, it was a little nerve-wracking because I was worried that something would go wrong with my documents and that I wouldn’t be allowed back into America. The trip went fine though, and nothing went wrong. When we got back, it took a little bit but I finally got my permit. I can’t wait to choose what to do here. Back home, I was a teacher and taught English to my students. I’m not sure whether or not I will teach here, but I love having so many options to choose from.
Scott and I were officially married, and we had to send pictures from the wedding and a wedding invitation to the office to prove that there was actually a wedding THis was one of the things I had to go through to get a green card. We are told that it would take a few more weeks for me to get my card, and I’m glad that the process went smoothly. Getting a green card means that I can live permanently in the US and that I can also work permanently.
Scott and I live together in a very nice neighborhood, and I couldn’t be happier. I miss my family back in Scotland, but I know that I made the right choice to come here to America.
