The word “terroir” comes from the Latin word, meaning "earth, land, and soil". This term is used to describe the combination of a vineyard’s soil composition, location, traditions, farming techniques, fermentation, topography, climate, and sunlight. This means that different grapes grow in different vineyards and regions. Because of this, every wine tastes different. It carries their environment with them. This is especially important in the development of tannins which heavily affects the taste of wine.
