My diary

Had great breakfast of eggy bread here. Was so so yummy. Left at 8.30. Lucky, our tour guide was amazing told us about Pol Pot and the Khamir Rouge. Everyone that was educated, had long hair, glasses, or was a threat was killed and tortured for a communist society. First we visited killing fields. Saw burial sites and there were bones still in the ground and clothes as it wasn't that long ago, 1975-1979. Killers were as young as 14 and killed parents as they were brain washed. Victims were brought in from concentration camps and often saw their family being killed. Gun shots loud so played music to cover it up. About 400 burial sites were found and still finding more. Traveled to S21 and Lucky told us about his family and how his mother escaped being killed. The camp was an old school in which cells were created to hold victims until they were tortured until sent to killing fields. Went into rooms with photos that were very graphic. Photos of the killers smiling and photos of dead bodies. Went into room with bed and box for toilet. Blood stains still on floor. Sad. More cells upstairs then met 2 of the 7 survivors of the camp. He was amazing and smiley. They only get $25 per month compensation by government but one of the torturers got millions for telling his story. Got the bus to Daughters of Cambodia which takes prostitutes off the street and gives them jobs in a cafe or manufacture to give them actual skills so they can leave sex trade. Had great food. Took tuc Tucs to Kings Palace, the temple and central market. At the central market I bought a north face bag as mine broke. I also bought an elephant paining which I love and can't wait to put in my room at uni. Went to roof top bar which had "best views of Phnom Penh" and had strong cocktails. Saw storm brewing. Went to dinner at the place opposite where Claire wanted too. I had garlic bread only and cocktails. Good cocktails. Ken likes happy hour
