This Sunday, a group of friends and I went hiking around Nordmarka, taking a route very similar to one that I had run in the past, which meant that, perhaps unwisely, they let me lead them around (which meant, since I happen to be a rather enthusiastic walker, that getting from Sognsvann to Holmenkollen, which could probably be done in about 4 miles, lead us over about 10).
A lot of the pictures I took that day are of the exact same views that I have taken pictures of before, but they are still so beautiful! I am loving that I am really getting to know the trails and am excited to see them go through the changing seasons. One of my favorite parts of my senior year of high school was being at Battle Creek park enough that I could watch the ferns grow in real time, see the difference that a week makes for an ecosystem in the spring. I am so happy that my relationship with the forest in Oslo is shaping up to be similar, that through many runs and hikes I am developing stories that are tied to very specific spots. I also love that I am able to build my relationships with people through walking in the woods.
A nice long hike with friends, filled with views and chocolate, was a great way to spend a Sunday, especially with such beautiful weather!
