THERE AND BACK AGAIN World Cruise 2019
Hard to imagine a more exotic itinerary than our next three ports. It is our journey though. Today was Dakar. Senegal is a very poor ($3600 US annual average) but very ambitious country. They are in the midst of a major infrastructure upgrade, mainly financed by China. Senegal has also had no significant revolutions, no dictators and no coup since their 1960 independence. Very rare, especially in Africa. A vibrant city. Goree Island was the embarkation point for African slaves being shipped to the New World. We did our last safari to the Bandia Reserve. Hot, dusty and lots of animals, especially giraffes, elands and other large antelopes, ostriches, buffalo,crocs and warthogs. The baobab is 1000 years old, the Giant Eland one of 200 in the world. Hyena are in an enclosure to keep them from eating the other animals (rhinos are safe!). Dinner with other KC World Cruisers.
