We spent a good part of the day in Port Stanley, main "city" of the Falkland Islands. We were unable to land at West Point as planned because a storm had damaged the facilities. It is a nice little town in an inhospitable area. No trees are native to the Falklands, however they have the 6th highest per capita GDP in the world; $97,000. Fishing and tourism primarily. You may remember the 1982 war between Britain and Argentina. Look it up, interesting story. The pics are from there. The arch in front of the cathedral is four blue whale jawbones. The circled area in one photo is the back of a penguin. Best I could do. Birds flock where the penguins are feeding to catch fleeing fish. There are 5 species of penguin in the Falklands, however this is the closest to seeing one here we will get BECAUSE : we are expecting 40 knot winds and won't be able to tender so as soon as we can recover passengers and crew we are upping anchor and heading for Ushuaia. Tomorrow's excursions cancelled.
