Today we are heading to Nicaragua, the third country on our Central America travels. A place i never even knew existed on the map, a country we know absolutely nothing about. We are so excited.
This morning we had to catch the very early ferry back to La Ceiba. This is something i wasn't looking forward to. Thankfully it was nowhere near as rough as the ferry over although i still managed to get a bit queezy and found myself with my head in a plastic bag. Great.
The ferry didn't take long and our shuttle bus was waiting for us at the other side. The shuttle bus took us all the way to Lyon, the main city in Nicaragua. The journey took hours, and hours, and hours. About fifteen hours altogether with just a few stops on the way for food and again to cross the border. We managed to get some sleep as there was plenty of time for naps. After a whole day spent on the shuttle bus we finally arrived in Lyon at about 01:00. We checked into a cheap hostel for the night before the real adventure begins tomorrow.

Good morning Nicaragua. Our place to stay in Lyon was perfect just for the night and this morning breakfast was included. Bonus. After we had eaten there was no messing around, we got straight back on the road to head towards our first stop...Ometepe Island. It turned into another long day of traveling. We went from Lyon to San jorge by shuttle bus and then San Jorge to Ometepe by ferry. The ferry was very calm and the views on the way over were incredible. We arrived late afternoon and we had no accommodation sorted yet so we didn't really know what to do. Luckily we managed to hitch a ride with a lady who knew the island very well. She was extremely helpful and drove us to an area where we could find some cheap but nice accommodation. The place we chose was unreal, right on the beach with perfect views. We settled in and then went to a restaurant nextdoor for some dinner. Afterwards we watched the sunset while relaxing in a couple of hammocks. I love this place already.
