Our first full day on Ometepe Island, the weather is beautiful and i can't wait for the day ahead. Firstly we had breakfast in our hostel. I had a ham and cheese omlette, only the ham didn't taste like ham and the cheese didn't taste like cheese. I didn't like it. After that we headed out and hired a moped for the day so we could get around the island much easier. Paul was a bit wobbly on it at first but he got the hang of it. I was holding on for my dear life. We decided to go to San Rowan waterfall today, only a short drive away, felt like a lifetime on the moped though. We parked the moped and paid the entrance fee, it was still a good walk away yet. The long walk was definitely worth it, the waterfall looked amazing. Paul set up his tripod and we took some photos. It got quite busy but i couldn't leave until i got the photo that i wanted, me standing underneath the waterfall. I finally got what i wanted and then we made our way back down.

It was early evening once we got back to our hostel. We went for a walk on the beach and watched the sunset, and we also saw some fisherman bringing loads of fish to shore. That was weird to watch. Afterwards we went for dinner, we found a really nice restaurant at another hostel just a few doors down, the food there was delicious.
When we got back to our hostel a big storm started. The thunder was really loud and the rain was really heavy. We sat watching it relaxing in the hammocks before going to bed.

Today was a very chilled day on Ometepe Island. We went to breakfast at the same restaurant we had our dinner in last night. We both enjoyed a bowl of porridge. We sat there for a while taking in the views. The weather is beautiful again. Today we took a walk to Ojo de Agua, a place full of natural swimming pools. We spent a couple of hours just relaxing on the deck chairs. After that we headed back with a stop off on the way so Paul could get a smoothie. Once we arrived back at our hostel it was late afternoon and we decided to take a walk down to the beach. We walked quite far and found a nice spot to watch the sunset and for Paul to set up his tripod and take some photos. It was a really nice sunset. We walked the length of the beach back and got ready to go out for dinner. Again we went up the road to the nice restaurant. We made it back to our hostel just in time before another torrential storm began. I sat in the hammock relaxing while watching the storm and while Paul did his photo stuff on his laptop. I fell asleep in the hammock and we went to bed shortly after.

A very productive fun day on Ometepe Island. We had a 05:00 alarm, but the sky for the sunrise was just no good so i went back to sleep for a short while whilst Paul did some stuff on his laptop. We eventually got up and went for breakfast, again a bowl of porridge only this time with some crushed up whole oat cookies we had bought from the shop.
Now for a day of adventure. We hired a moped out again and headed towards a part of the lake that specialises in kayak tours, yeah, that's right, im about to go kayaking. I was a little nervous at first but i pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I am so glad i did because it was so much fun. I wasn't the greatest at paddling but i gave it my best shot. It was an hour paddle down the lake until we reached the river/swamp which we then spent half an hour exploring. There was alot of wildlife and we saw some turtles and even some caymans...pretty awesome.
An hour back down the lake and soaking wet, we finished our kayak tour and sat down for lunch to re-gain our energy. Now to find a cash machine. We connected my action camera to Pauls helmet to try and get some good videos of the journey - which by the way turned out shit. It started to hammer it down with rain, which made it harder to drive, neither of us could see that well and we had to pull over a couple of times until it settled as it was getting a bit dangerous - and talking of dangerous we set off to go again and the moped lost control, we were going side to side, luckily Paul managed to save it (just about). Phew.
Feeling a little uneasy we set off again and made it to the cash machine which thankfully worked for us. We needed a little time out so we went to the nearest cafe and had a cup of tea, we were feeling a bit cold. We set off again, went to the gas station and then headed back to the hostel where we chilled in our room for a bit.
We went to our usual spot for dinner again tonight. Paul had a whole fish, it was so tasty, i was quite jealous of his dish. Its beady eye staring as it was being eaten. I had a grilled fish fillet to keep in with the fish theme, however it wasn't as enjoyable. We got back to our hostel quite late so we quickly packed and went to bed.
Ometepe Island...it has been a pleasure.
