An Adventure Awaits...

Monday 2nd November 2015

This is it! The fun starts today! I finally get to see Paul after a very long few months apart and it’s just two days before our Central America travels. AHHHHH!!!
I was running around my house like a headless chicken this morning, trying to do my last minute packing before my taxi arrived to take me to Birmingham New Street Station.
12:30 in the afternoon and my train journey began. Birmingham to Cheltenham Spa and then Cheltenham Spa to Swindon.
It was a nice easy journey but I did start to get a bit nervous about meeting Paul’s sister and niece for the first time.
Finally I arrived in Swindon, it was so good to see Paul again. He showed me a little bit of Swindon town, a bizarre place with many bizarre people.
There were no need for the nerves, Paul’s sister was lovely and very welcoming, she makes the best potatoes, and little Grace is just adorably cute.
It has been a really nice day, and a totally chilled evening with an early night. Super excited for tomorrow.

Tuesday 3rd November 2015

It was an early start to the day, about 6am. A very chilled morning getting ready slowly and watching Grace get ready for her first day at pre-school and posing for photos, she looked so grown up. Not forgetting the numerous episodes of Octonauts!
We said our goodbyes to Lisa and Grace, it was lovely to meet them. It was time for us to go. Another trip into town, a visit to Costa and a sausage roll. Now we are on the coach, en route to LONDON!
When we arrived our place to stay was easy enough to find. Ideal. We threw our bags in, put on some layers, had a bite to eat and headed straight out. We headed back into Central London for the evening where we enjoyed the views of the London Eye and Big Ben. I love this City. Paul got to try out his new tripod and took some pretty awesome photos!
After a nice evening we headed back to our home for the night where I sorted my luggage and got everything organised for tomorrows early flight. Cannot believe we actually fly tomorrow. What the hell. The big adventure is actually happening. Soooooo excited, with a few butterfly nerves. Eeeeek!

WOW! The day is here, Central America Travels here we come!
We were up at 04:10 to get ready to leave for London City Airport. We arrived at 05:00 where we had a crappy cup of tea before checking in. Once we had checked in and through security we enjoyed a nice breakfast and had a little look around. Paul got himself a mocha and a photography magazine and then we took a typical 'at the airport selfie. I’m starting to get a little bit nervous.
Our first flight was at 07:40 with City Jet to Amsterdam, it was such a tiny plane.
Once we arrived in Amsterdam it was straight to the gate to board our next flight to Panama. The KLM plane was massive. I had never been on one like it before. It was a really smooth flight but eleven hours was just too bloody long. We were given a couple of meals, snacks and drinks to keep us going and a pillow and a blanket if we needed to sleep. I didn't get any sleep at all and managed to watch three films (Pitch Perfect 2, Fault in our stars and Fast and Furious 7) plus a random documentary on sharks.
Finally touched down in Panama and I was starting to feel beyond tired. We had a little look around the shops and chilled out a bit before our last flight with Copa Airlines to Guatemala.
And finally we are here, we are in Guatemala. We collected our bags and then there was a cute little taxi man with his wrongly spelt ‘PAUL AND KIRTY’ sign waiting to take us to our accommodation.
It’s a nice little place to stay actually and Cristiano the owner spoke good English and was very helpful. It has been a long and tiring day and it feels good to be in bed. But we are here, and it’s exciting…let the fun begin!!

Here is a map pin pointing the places we plan to visit in Guatemala:
