Thursday 5th November 2015 – Xeila
Good Morning GUATEMALA!!!!
What a beautiful hot and sunny day it is. Perfect.
We were up at 7am for a lovely breakfast of scrambled eggs, red beans, and fried banana, with a cup of tea.
I can't believe I am putting sun cream on in November...this is weird.
We were ready by 09:15 to head to our next destination on our adventure, but first can I just say we bought two bottles of water and two cakes for 85p....what a bargain!!
10:30 and our coach journey to Xeila began. It was a pretty longish one but pleasant all the same, the views along the way were unreal. We stopped off halfway for a quick lunch then carried on into Xeila, and then we got a taxi to our accommodation. Speaking very little Spanish we found things just a little bit difficult, but we got there in the end.
We arrived at Hostel Casa Nativos, it was decent enough, very standard, but when it's as cheap as what we paid, we certainly can't complain.
We settled in and then set off out to find a tour company for our first activity – Tajumulco, the highest mountain in Central America, I must be crazy.
We found a tour company easy enough, it starts tomorrow at 06:00. I am a little nervous but super excited too, the views at the top are meant to be amazing.
We treated ourselves to a decent meal tonight in the pub opposite our hostel, very tasty, then we headed back to our room for an early night to prepare ourselves for tomorrow.
It seems in Guatemala, they are quite the ravers, the music was blasting in the nightclub downstairs. I was finding it difficult to sleep. Paul was fast asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow – that man can sleep through anything. I was getting very fidgety and didn’t want to wake him up so I got into the other bed, which wasn't very comfortable but I fell asleep eventually.
