European Holiday June-July 2017

It was a free day today and the last full day of out tour. The group went their separate ways depending on what they wanted to do in Paris. Some climbed the Eiffel Tower while others went on the open bus tour.

We journeyed around Paris today looking at various sights with Rob and Leah. We went to the Bastille column, walked to Place de Vosges in the Marais district. We looked at the amazing art shops around the square and had morning coffee and cake at Carette.

We continued our journey towards Tuileries gardens and we walked around the outside of the Louvre. We then walked to Angelinas and the bookshop next door. We then walked to Place Vendome and went into the Ritz for a look inside. As we were wandering through the foyer we bumped into Seal, one of the judges from The Voice. We had quite a lengthy conversation about this year’s season of The Voice, during which he did most of the talking and we did most of the listening. He is unlikely to return to the program in future seasons because much of the creative choices are now made by the program and not by the coaches, including song choices.

We continued on our walk through Paris past the Opera House and into the Gourmet section of Galeries Lafayette. We bought some Greek food for a late lunch and then went up to the seventh floor of the other building to look at the view.

We met the rest of the group for dinner at a quaint restaurant called Feu de Bois which resembled the inside of a train carriage. We then went home for the last night before many were travelling home or further onwards after the organised tour.
