India 2018

We reached the entrance to The ‘Beatles’ Ashram and Raju went to the desk and sorted out our entrance tickets. In actual fact The Beatles just stayed there, the Ashram was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who also brought Trancendental Meditation to the world. It was run down and crumbling, but it wasn’t difficult to imagine it in it’s heyday. All the pebbles on the buildings had been brought from the banks of the Ganges. The ‘pods’ for accomodation and meditation had electricity and a proper bathroom, The Beatles stayed in number 9 and we had a good look around. The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had his own rather more spacious place, there was a surprisingly large amount of accomodation in the Ashram with great views of the Ganges, which you could hear, very nice! There were lots of murals around the whole place and this really made it come alive.
