My new wake up time is around 6am, which is much more pleasant than 3:30am and 4:30am on previous days. This morning was particularly cold - I opened the curtains for a little light and climbed back under the warm bedcovers. It didn't last long - I looked out the frosted glass around 7am and saw flakes of white flying past the window. Within moments I was rugged up and downstairs, watching the green grass disappear under a blanket of white. I took way too many photos, and admired it for ages before Andy set the table with bowls of porridge - perfect for this weather.
Andy's been teasing me that I haven't photographed any of his meals, so a public announcement here that I'm eating exceptionally well, with delicious, home cooked, vegan-friendly meals. Much appreciated by both myself and my belly!
We drove out to Broadway Market in Hackney, where the novelty of snow wore off as I discovered that even my warmest hiking socks didn't stop my feet from freezing to ice blocks. The markets were full of delicious Mem-friendly foods, but I faced the dilemma of not being able to take my gloves off to eat! In addition to the issue of not being able to transfer money, Andy lent me a fiver and I came home with an apple and cinnamon doughnut and very cold toes.
Andy's carrot soup soon warmed me up again, and once again, I sat admiring the snow from the warmth of the house. Other than a brief walk to the supermarket, I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon finishing a little work and watching the white carpet grow outside. The wedding is tomorrow, so putting it down as energy conservation, and nothing to do with me being an uninsulated wimp!
*Edit: Robin has reminded me to add my moment of gullibility. Before leaving for the markets, my enthusiasm for capturing snow photos was quelched when he told me very sagely that using cameras below 5C can damage them. Deadpan is not my strong point - got me good, Robin.
