Since the island of Taiwan proved as enjoyable as we had initially hoped, and even more so, we decided to continue our trip into a region overflowing with islands and archipelagos, the South Pacific.

Since the island of Taiwan proved as enjoyable as we had initially hoped, and even more so, we decided to continue our trip into a region overflowing with islands and archipelagos, the South Pacific.
Islands though they be, we expect them to be very different from Taiwan in every respect: weather (hot, humid and wet), transport (erratic and expensive), resources (electricity and internet are not always available), language (back to English), activities (diving and snorkelling), food (less vegan and less diverse options), and probably a lot more.
And so we left the most friendly country we had ever been to, and ventured onto the sunny islands of the South Pacific, hopping from Taipei (TPE) to Hong Kong (HKG) to Nadi (NAN), making Fiji our first stop in the region.
