Hegia is Going Somewhere

We went to Dessau with travel program, to have the workshop of our studio project in Bauhaus, and to present to the audience there. I have already heard that Dessau is a very quiet city. We went to Dessau with travel program, to have the workshop of our studio project in Bauhaus, and to present to the audience there. I have already heard that Dessau is a very quiet city. And I agree 100%. It feels like nothing is happening there... The population was dominated with the elderly. But despite the city, the Bauhaus was pretty awesome. We stayed in the guesthouse which is preserved in UNESCO heritage! And also, my bed was super fluffy. I had a great time staying in that great building for 5 days.

The Phenomenons:
1. Bauhaus building itself is full of innovations and breakthrough from

the other conventional buildings at that time. The elements that intrigued me the most are the window opening system, the colour coding in the building, and the bridge that connect the two sides where Walter Gropius watched everything from the window.
2. There was one type of chair that like the most, which was the armchair that has the angle of about 10 degrees to the back and the seat has a slope in around the same angle to the inside. So the armchair was really comfortable to sit on even though it does not look like the typical "comfortable chair" with all those fluffy cushions. With a certain ergonomic structure, any chair can become comfortable.
3. Due to the bombings during the World War, the house of Gropius and the masters had to be reconstructed and they look very interesting to me. They look like maquettes! In 1:1 size.
4. In the guest house, I was always wondering why for one floor occupied by more or less 10 people, it only has 1 toilet and 1 shower.

And the most curious was the bathroom. It was so big, around 8 x 6 m, but only has 1 shower in it, facing a huge window. I still don't know the reason. But if it was me who designed, I would have done it differently. At least to have more than 1 shower.
5. We had a dinner with wine, pretzels, and cheese at the Master's house balcony. When I saw how the dinner was served, I found it really witty. They just used the edge of the balcony as a long table to put the food on. And people can take the food from either inside the balcony, or outside the balcony (the garden).
