Before 1510 Indian Tributes were living in Colombia. In 1510 the Spanish came. They founded Darren, which was in the border of Colombia and Panama. In 1538, the colony was put in the New Granada, which last till 1861. After this Colombia was named for the country. The country was name after Christopher Columbus (even though he didn't discover Colombia).

Ethnic Groups- 58% Mestizo, 20% white, 14% Mulatto, 4% black, 3% Mixed Black-Amerindian, and 1% Amerindian.

In Colombia there are volunteer places where people all over the world come to. There is the Bogota Program in which you have to be 18 years old or older. You can also feed the homeless in Colombia. Plane tickets usually cost from North Carolina to Colombia is about $700.

The country has lots of rain forests, mountains, and coffee plantations. In Bogota, it is known for restaurants, bars, and shopping areas.
