From Arequipa we caught a bus through to Puno, stayed there for a night so we could jump on the morning bus to Copacabana, our first stop in Bolivia. On the way to Copacabana we experienced our first land border crossing from Peru to Bolivia, which went smoothly!

Copacabana is a small town situated on Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America sitting at 3,800m elevation. Copacabana is a popular spot for tourists to stop and rest and recover, with the main attraction being Lake Titicaca and Isla

Del Sol.

We only stayed for one night here, so on our only full day we caught a ferry across to Isla Del Sol, an island on Lake Titicaca. After a three hour ferry we arrived at the north end of the island and explored the ancient Incan ruins, then we spent another three hours hiking to the south end of the island. At the south end there are clusters of hostels and restaurants, we had time for a quick cerveza and we were back on the ferry heading to Copacabana. The views on Isla Del Sol were incredible, if only the water and the weather were warmer we would have loved to jump in!

We then jumped on a short four hour bus to La Paz.
