The Qianling Mausoleum

Qianling, located on Liangshan Mountain, 6 kilometers north of Qianxian County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is a joint burial tomb of Wu Zetian and his husband Tang Gaozong Li Zhi. This mausoleum has set at least two historical records: First, Qianling is the only queen's mausoleum in Chinese history. II. Qianling is the only mausoleum where the two emperors were buried. The construction of Qianling began in 683, and Li Zhi was buried the next year. In 706, Wu Zetian was buried. The Qianling was built at the prosperous Tang Dynasty, and the national strength was full. Therefore, the cemetery was built on a large scale and the building was majestic and magnificent. According to records, Qianling covers an area of about 2.3 million square meters, and there are a large number of precious funeral weapons in it. History books call it the crown of the mausoleums of all

dynasties. Qianling is also one of the few mausoleums in the tombs of ancient Chinese emperors that have not been stolen. The Qianling Mausoleum has not been excavated so far. The so-called cultural relics unearthed in Qianling come from the accompanying tomb of Qianling. No word tablet, is also another point of view of Qianling. Outside the Zhuque Gate, on the east side of Sima Road, stands the world-famous "Wu Zetian without Words Tablet". Among the stone carvings in the whole Qianling Cemetery, the stele without characters is not only in an eye-catching position, but also has exquisite carving art. Behind this stele without characters, it is full of various legendary stories. There are three folk theories as to why there are no characters on the stele. The first theory is that Wu Zetian erected the stele without words to boast about herself, to show that her accomplishments and virtues are beyond words. The second theory holds that Wu Zetian erected the tablet without words because she knew her SINS were great and felt it was better not to write the tablet. The third view holds that Wu Zetian was a self-aware person, and that it was a wise move to erect a monument without words, leaving the merits and wrongs to future generations to comment.
