Wild West Adventure

After months of research, route planning, adjustments to the route, booking and rebooking overnight stops and preparing for departure, we finally got on the road at 10:45am. A little bit about our adventure, we are embarking on a 2-month trip that will take us from Bluffton, SC to a number of National Parks in the west with stops at friends and places of interest along the way. We are traveling in a 2022 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH towing a Jeep Wrangler. All total we are just under 60' in length, think semi and you get the picture. We are fully self contained with water and power, power either from shore power, solar or generator. Our trip planner shows a total of 6,849 miles with 30 stops, not including gas, when you drive a 40' motorhome towing a Jeep, we will make a lot of gas stops. For those of you wondering, we hope to average 8mpg, you can do the math.

Preparation is key, being self-contained, we are able to load a lot of our meals for the trip, Nantucket Market loved us when we purchased, beef, chicken, shrimp and fish for 30 dinners. We vacuumed sealed and froze our meals, having a residential refrigerator helps in the planning. Being a good planner, you will notice I only loaded 30 meals, leaving the other 30 days available to dining out, I don't plan to cook every night much to Pat's disappointment.

Today's journey took us through Atlanta west to Little Tallapoosa County Park. It was a hot drive with outside temperatures in the triple digits. Arrived 4:20pm, Little Tallapoosa County Park was a pretty campground, long pull-through site so we didn't need to unhook the Jeep to park. We spent the rest of the day and evening getting the rig organized. I mention the outside temperature as our front AC was not working when we left, I called our local Tech, he advised it was most likely frozen up due the high heat at home as well, once unfrozen all should be good.
Stats: miles 326, drive time 5 1/2 hours, gas fill-up 65gals, DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) 4gals
Weather: Hot, daytime high 102, night low 69, no rain
Map: our route, each green dot is a stop.
