Hello new diary!

Well, we are embarking on what is most likely our last few months in the UK and we are trying to make the most of it.

Today we decided upon a day trip to Greenwich so that the girls will at least have a photo of themselves on the Prime Meridian even if they don't remember visiting. The hope is that it may make learning about such things in the future more interesting and pertinent to them.

The trains were undergoing engineering work so it was a car trip. I actually really enjoyed seeing South East London by car. It was very typical 'East End' with rows of terraced housing and we drove past our first base in the UK, Blackheath.

Greenwich park is lovely. Our first stop was the Observatory where we tried to install some facts about time keeping and navigation into at least the eldest child (limited success I'm afraid). Then the planetarium which we all enjoyed as we saw a display of the night sky with an excellent commentator.

Then it was down to the river to have a quick walk around, some lunch and a look at the Cutty Sark before heading home again. The girls would have loved to climb around the Cutty Sark but time was not on our side given it was over an hours drive home and school tomorrow. Hopefully another time!
