Toronto, Ontario to Port Huron, Michigan

This is it! The day Nora has been waiting for!

We did errands in the morning, like getting an oil change, and then drove into Toronto.

We met Nora's roommate and her mom for brunch, at a restaurant recommended by Stefan and Chantal (though they did not join us). We like these Toronto brunches, with various items on the plate -- today was eggs, baked beans, salad, potatoes and toast. Sophie is from Buffalo, New York, and we had plenty of time to get to know each other. Nora has been talking to Sophie every day for a couple months, so she said it didn't even feel like they were meeting for the first time -- she already knows her.

Next page, Stefan's building and neighborhood. People waiting in line for black ice cream.

By the time we finished brunch and walked back to the car, it was time to head to the residence. It is a former hotel, so right in front is a circular driveway area, where we could pull in and unload Nora's 14 boxes onto a luggage cart. Tom parked the van in the underground lot, and then pushed the very full cart (boxes bungied in place) to the elevator, which we took up to the 20th floor. There's quite a view from up there.

She let us make her bed, and flatten all the cardboard, but they wanted to decorate themselves.

Here are some pictures she sent later.

We drove from Toronto to Port Huron, through lots of traffic in Toronto, no traffic after that, and still a 10 minute wait at the bridge. Another easy crossing, though.

We had dinner at a restaurant practically under the bridge. their motto was "commit to the mitt" -- with a focus on Michigan foods. Luckily, they were flexible about leaving cherries off my salad and sandwich!
