We spent the last 2 days exploring the area and taking time to relax and unwind. On Monday we decided to go check out The Train Mountain Museum. We were a bit intrigued because the website mentioned a bunch of Cabooses and other vintage railroad cars. But there was also something else about an enormous miniature train depot with a "Guinness Book of World Records" amount of track. The Klamath and Western Railroad is exactly that. There are hobbyist that collect these miniature trains, not models, that you can actually ride on. Train Mountain is covered with track for these small trains. We were told that if you traveled to the far end and back it would take 5-6 hours. The museum itself was an outdoor display of vintage rail cars. We have been to a lot of railroad museums but we saw some here that we have never seen before it was genuinely fascinating. You could go into several of the cars but they were rickety at best. We actually had to sign a waiver before we could go out and explore. I think by far the most interesting was the rotary snow plow that could pick up snow on the tracks and throw it over 100 feet. It was really interesting to look at and they had pictures posted of it from the early 1900’s. They were used as early as 1901 and many were still in service in the 1950’s. One was even used to rescue a stranded train in Donner Pass in 1952. It was a fun and interesting way to spend the afternoon. Back at camp we attempted a little more fishing from the rickety dock but it was quite windy making for a futile effort. The sunset was amazing as was the heat lightning display in the distance.

All in all, a great trip so far. We are enjoying the people and the scenery. We are even finding some time to relax and enjoy the solitude. Expect for the fishing but not catching thing are going great. We're off to Mount Hood today. and looking forward to exploring the waterfalls and hiking trails in the area. Not to mention the micro breweries. Love to all. Until next time.
