Aotearoa

Light rain was falling as we went to breakfast before leaving Rotorua for Wellington. The morning feast at The Regent was probably not as good as the others but that is not really a criticism. It was still fine. Wellington is about 450 kms from Rotorua so we will be under Dave’s care all day with a few “comfort” stops and a break for lunch thrown in.

There is not much to write about. The countryside was bland with some nice spots. It was a long day and it was great to alight from the coach round 5pm at the Inter Continental Hotel in Wellington. Wellington looked to be a nice place and it had warmed up for our arrival and “Windy Wellington” was not windy at all.

The hotel is the highest rated one we have stayed in. Dinner for us was included and 3 of us has the snapper and Ron had steak. The snapper was delicious and I think the steak was pretty tasty as well. There was a tour discount on 4 of the Beers. There were probably another 10 available. 3 qualifying for our discount were NZ Craft Beers and the other was Asashi. Going on my younger brother’s recommendation in the past, I went with Asashi. At NZ$8.50, it wasn’t bad value for a pub like this. My instinct to trust Oofa’s expert recommendation was spot on.

Tonight, we were not the last to leave the restaurant and go to bed. And bed was welcome, let me tell you after the long day in the coach.
