Japan 2018

On Monday morning, October 1, we sailed into Hakodate once more. It is one of Hokkaido's most frequently visited tourist destinations. We toured the Red Brick Warehouses - the historic waterfront district where shipyards and foreign settlements were once located.
We took a bus to board the cable car for the panoramic ride to the summit of Mt Hakodate. The serene views of harbour and cityscape were beautiful and at the top there were many spots for photos of different views.
The brochure told us there was a Trapistine Convent some distance away, which was the first Catholic convent in Japan. They sell home-made cookies, candies and other specialities there. However, we didn't have time to take that bus.
We loved the views from our oceanview window and the attention the staff gave us in making beds, providing fresh towels and tidying the room even at times. We kept loving the amazing menus at dinner, especially the dessert.
On October 2 we had another Day at Sea. On this day we enjoyed a special tour of the ship's kitchen and a cooking show. This occurred in the theatre. We were amazed at the fruit and veg displays and it was interesting to see how they plate up in a mass production setting.
Our Log of the Cruise, provided by Princess Cruises, for this second part of our trip, the 8-days Circle Hokkaido, provided a summary of the number of nautical miles we travelled.

October 3 saw us disembark our ship at Yokohama and head for Narita Airport, via a city excursion to Meiji Jingu Shrine (once again) and Asakusa Temple. We were happily caught up in a Shinto wedding troupe at the Shrine. It was great to know our suitcases were coming with us in the bus. We had a long wait at the airport, along with other Aussies who were on the trip. Eventually we boarded our flight and flew home to Brisbane. Such a wonderful time! Thank you God and Thank You to the Universe for all these amazing experiences and reminiscences in Japan. How lucky were we!
