Today was Day 10 and a Saturday. We awoke in our Kyoto Hotel, Ibis Styles, and found our way down the street to pick up some breakfast at a little supermarket - sushi rice wrapped in seaweed, croissants , yoghurt and orange juice. We decided to return to this hotel one day - a very pleasing experience, especially with the expansive Kyoto railway station opposite.
This was actually the morning we found our way to the Ryoanji Zen Garden and spent several hours on public transport and walking through the gardens. Our legs and feet were very tired!
In the afternoon, we prepared for our trip to Nagoya, and walked over to the station to find the special Shinkansen ticket booth where we could buy our reserved seats. We sent our suitcases via Takyubin, hoping and expecting that all would be well this time round. At least we were able to pay ahead.
The Shinkansen platforms are located in the south-east of the station. Here we boarded the bullet train. We really enjoyed travelling on this wonderful train - so smooth, you would hardly know you were moving.
