Ao Nang and Railay, Thailand
We left Koh Lipe to make our way to Ao Nang to meet Shai and the rest of her extended family. We stayed in a hotel on the main drag opposite a pretty noisy late night reggae bar, and spent the first couple of days lounging around and drinking beer at Shai's luxury beach house. It was pretty chilled and great to catch up. It was also the place where Flora experienced her first Asian style motorbike adventure. Sanctioned by Jason and unknown to us, her and Laura were driven by Ella, Laura's cousin who was only 15... Unbelievable!
We then headed over to Railay for a few nights, first of all staying up on the mountain side in the garden view bungalows where we had spent new year 2014/15. Railay was a bit more developed but maintained its beauty and chilled vibe. There were also beautiful langur monkeys in the trees, and enormous monitor lizards on the path, which Pedro was rather alarmed about initially. We spent a couple of days going to our favourite beach where Flora met two adorable Tasmanian girls and had loads of fun with them. Shai joined us for a day too, which was quite an effort for her mum getting in and out of the longtail boats. On our last day in Railay there was a massive deluge that we had to wait to clear before we embarked on the longtail journey back to Ao Nang. The following morning we all piled into the minibus to Surat Thani to catch the ferry to Koh Samui.
