My Travel to Western Roman Empire

Today marks the last day of my trip! I decided to go to the thermopolium, which is a place that sells food, some may call it a snack or lunch bar. It was a small area on the road side, the Romans used this to serve the lower class of Romans who could not afford cooking tools and gave them a chance to eat, drink and socialize. I decided to order a meat and requested a bit of garum, which is a fish sauce that added extra flavor. The ordering table was long and made of stone. There were food jars in these holes in the stone, containing both hot and cold foods, and people could take it and go about the rest of the days. The sides of the counter were colorful and brightly painted. There were paintings held up to decorate the room and menus held up around the building. They served cold food too, however I wanted to eat something warm since it was lunchtime. There was a seating area in the back of the room, so I sat there to quickly eat my food and continue my exploration of the town. There was also an option for citizens to grab their food, pay and leave. As I was there, there was a sudden uproar throughout among the people. There was an invasion in through the Balkans, though it was over eighteen hours away, there was a fear that the towns would be invaded. Alaric was the leader of this invasion, this started the destruction of Rome, the fall of the Roman Empire. Alaric did this with a hope that he would be able to get the Visigoths into an alliance with the eastern European people. This backfired when several Germanic soldiers invaded the Rhine, in the western empire Prior to my trip, I learned that Theodosius I had granted the Goths permission to settle in the Roman territory. Before his death in 395, Theodosius divided the empire into two parts; the Western Empire and the Eastern Empire, so that his sons could rule. I decided to start my travel back home.
