Moving to (Wo)Manly

We only had to look at 2 places in Manly before we knew exactly where we’d be living for the next year. After leaving a flat that was 10 steps from the sand, the only question was how long should we wait before texting them to ask if we can move in? So we sat and ate dinner at ‘The Jellyfish’ in Manly and carefully formulated a message, hoping to sound keen but not too keen! Luckily they accepted our offer and we moved in 1 week later!

Within a few days our first surf lesson was booked. I was incredibly nervous because of sharks, rip tides and the possibility that I might be embarrassingly bad at surfing. Although some of the waves were terrifying and paddling out was more than my tiny arm muscles could handle, I actually

enjoyed the lesson. We both managed to stand up and surf the white water into the sand before falling off backwards each time! Our second lesson was even more successful - Matt managed to surf some of the green waves and I managed to stay standing a little longer each time! Now that we are both surfer dudes it feels like we officially live on the beach!
