Chapter 5 - Surprise! We’re in Cyprus

Destination: Cyprus

Today was to be about the River Jordan, the Sea of Galilee and Haifa. But on Saturday morning, Gaza militants attacked several areas in Israel while current headlines showed “We are at war” declarations from the Israeli Prime Minister. So instead of sailing into a country where violence could escalate rapidly we are redirecting to Limassol, Cyprus.
While this diversion may be a disappointment and inconvenience for us, our thoughts are really with the people who are experiencing the horrors of this war.

Limassol, Cyprus

Usually we read books about, or set in the countries we are about to visit. We also like to watch movies actually set in that location. The only movie we’ve seen that actually took place in Cyprus was Exodus. Unfortunately, that was a long time ago, and the port they left from was probably not the modern city of Limassol.

Limassol is said to be the most modern city in Cyprus.

We took a self-directed, walking tour along the boardwalk, and through some of the city streets.

We came across something very interesting, called the paradox museum.

Woah! We had a great time interacting with all of the optical illusions. Not very typical of Cyprus, but fun.
