Do you love the mountains and snow, and crave extraordinary accommodations? Then Iglodorp Kühtai in Austria is the place for you. Located just 40 minutes from Innsbruck, here you can stay in an igloo more than 2,000 meters above sea level. With a warm bed, cozy lighting in the snow room, and a sauna and restaurant nearby, this is far from uncomfortable—it's an unforgettable experience.
You’re not the only one checking off a bucket list item at Iglodorp Kühtai. The Iglu-Dorf Kühtai is a hotel featuring multiple igloos along a snowy path. Walking on the crunching snow beneath your feet, it feels like you’re in a fairytale world—snow huts with rounded shapes and wooden doors. Once you step through the wooden door of your igloo, you’ll forget all about the other guests. Your cozy hut has no windows, ensuring maximum privacy.

Iglodorp has its own restaurant, bar, and sauna. Here, you can indulge your senses with comforting food and hot or sweet drinks. Meet fellow igloo dwellers and exchange tips for winter fun in the area. The hotel also organizes various winter activities, such as curling tournaments or snowshoe hikes with a guide. There are fun adventures for all ages. The sauna is the perfect place to warm up and unwind after a day of winter activities before heading back to your cozy igloo.
What’s it like to sleep in an igloo? It’s a cozy and comfortable experience. Snow beds with warm furs and sleeping bags await you, keeping you warm down to -40°C, though it’s unlikely to get that cold. The walls are white but artistically decorated with snow shapes. There are lights and a USB charging point. The next morning, enjoy a comfortable breakfast at a nearby hotel. Whether you're seeking some alone time, a romantic night with your partner, or a unique experience with your whole family, you can definitely check “unique overnight stay” off your bucket list by morning.
Kühtai offers more than unforgettable nights within walls of ice. This ski resort boasts a diverse range of winter activities. Race down challenging slopes or try snowboarding on a high-alpine landscape. Since the 46 kilometers of slopes are at over 2,000 meters, there’s enough snow for skiing and snowboarding well into the spring. The ski area is above the tree line, so freeriders can enjoy large areas of deep snow. Want to practice your skills and challenge yourself first? You can do so at the Snowpark. For a magical skiing experience, try nighttime skiing on the illuminated slopes twice a week. Bonus: The ski lift is just a few meters from the hotel, so you can walk directly from the slopes into the hotel.
Tip: The nearby sunny ski area of Hochoetz has even more slopes to explore.
