My African Adventure

This is my international trip where I have rented a car while I am travelling. I think I am different in that I believe when you rent a car, it should be not just to get from A to B. I have always upgraded my car when I rent. I want to drive something I can't normally afford. Why not? SO I have almost always rented Audi's. (I rented a BMW in Vancouver- not impressed, and a Mercedes when I went to Kelowna in the summer- now that was a nice fast car!
This is supposedly my third Audi internationally. I know that I have this picture in my head of racing around South Africa although I have been cautioned not to speed by a friend of mine from work who actually was born or lived in South Africa when she was young. I promised her that I will abide by the speed limit if only so as not to get noticed by the police.
I got pulled over twice in Italy, once for going down a road that turns into pedestrian only after a certain time. Man was he mad at me and yelled his face off in Italian to which I kept saying tourista , tourista but he seemed to like the sound of his voice better. I mean really! Who keeps time in Italy while you are on vacation? The second time was when I was actually not speeding, so didn't know why I was stopped although the 50 Euros in my passport was gone when the officer handed me back my passport and international liscence but no ticket for anything and he waved us onto the Autostrata. I have heard in South Africa to speed is to get stopped and then you have to pay your way out of a ticket. So no speeding. I wonder if the car will be as nice as I have pictured in my head? Not at all- I got a Mercedes!
