We are picked up at 07:00 on Tuesday the 16th January and, after 28hours and 5 minutes, via Dubai and Melbourne, we land in Christchurch at 05:00 on Thursday 18th January to be met by Karina and Luke with welcome banners. It was just lovely to see them. A 30 minute drive in Luke's Ute brought us to Sumner Beach where they are renting a lovely little house just across from the beach. A surfers' paradise!
Karina and Luke went off to work and, once unpacked, we went for a stroll along the beach. The water was cold so we weren't tempted in!
When Karina and Luke came home from work we had a late Christmas waiting for them, with stockings and gifts from England. Another walk, this time to the village bar, and we felt we deserved to go to bed.
