Our first Moroccan breakfast with different kinds of fresh bread, fresh orange juice, mint tea, olives and olive paste and other tasty bits and pieces. We have ordered a guide but the weather is turning nasty.
When he arrives, it is drizzling and we wander up the stream to where women wash their clothes, then cross into the old town through one of the gates. A guide isn't really necessary but we see a few sights of interest, sheltering whenever the rain becomes too strong to continue.
The usual Monday market is disappointingly small in the bad weather but Chefchaouen is beautiful despite the rain. After the tour, we set out alone, up to the Spanish mosque on a hill, obviously a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike. The rain stops but low clouds hang dramatically over the tops of the mountains and the path along the river is flooded.
After a delicious Indian meal, cooked by Vinoth we retire to our room, even colder and damper than before... but sun is promised for the morning.
