During my second day in Beijing, I visited those places that I felt I just had to see. After hearing about, learning about and reading about them, it was time for me to see Tiananmen square for myself, and next the Forbidden City, where Chinese emperors had lived and no ordinary citizen was allowed to enter. That evening I had dinner with a friend I knew from Holland and who I hadn’t seen in almost six months, so there was a lot of catching up to do.
My third day was all about the Great Wall: I had booked a tour of my hostel, which meant that transport was arranged for us. Three hours by bus to one of the more remote parts of the wall, and it was worth it. I did not write in my diary those days, so I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
