My diary

Built in 1723, and completed two years after by Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi, the Spanish Steps have become a huge tourist attraction throughout the world due to its media attention over the past 60 years. In the popular American film, Roman Holiday, with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn in 1953, the Spanish Steps were filmed in the movie making it become popular. Several other musicians and films have featured the Spanish Steps in their media as well, making it popular among the American culture. It has also been a location used for hosting entertainment and broadcasting world events. For example, in 2009, there was a showing of the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 for people to watch at the steps. At the top of these 135 steps is a French church called the Trinita dei Monti. By the church, one can see a stunning view of the city of Rome. Presently, the Spanish Steps are decorated in different times throughout the year. In May, the steps are covered with beautiful flowers and the area around it becomes a popular flower market. The place is still a mystery, and there isn’t much historical background on it, but it has become a very popular tourist spot, especially with the high fashion stores located around it.
