My Travels through South Africa and Thailand

I slept so well last night; managed to get to bed super early as the party was not too loud and then slept all the way through to this morning when my alarm went off.

Today I was going to be doing the Cape Point tour so had to be picked up at 7am and get to the Civic Centre bus terminal for 8.45 where my tour would begin. The traffic was so chaotic, and it reminded me very much of back home in London. I got there around an hour earlier than I needed so I decided to pop into the food eatery and get some food for breakfast. It was a kind of buffet style where you got a little box, filled it up as much as you could and then got it weighed prior to paying. The food was so nice and filling, there were some vanilla 'flapjacks' although I would describe them more as extra thick pancakes, and these were incredible! I then waited around in some shade just outside the terminal as I did not know specifically where to wait and nor did the information lady, so she suggested the front would be best. I waited there till around 9.20 with no sign of the tour, I thought it would be best if I send my accommodation an email to try and find out what had happened and whether they were simply running late. SaltyCrax replied after around 10 minutes to tell me that the tour had left without me as they could not find me, but they would arrange someone to come and collect me from town to take me back. I couldn't figure out how I could have not seen the bus, I mean, I know that the terminal was massive, but I thought I would have spotted a large, branded bus.

In the end I got back to Salty's around 11am; the traffic was a lot better going back so we made it in 30 minutes. I had no idea what I was to do with my day now, though my first thought was to go back to bed and sleep a bit longer as I still felt a bit tired from the crazy wine tour the day before. I woke early afternoon just as Valentine, Daniella and Florin were about to head down to the beach to watch this big competition that was going on where all the world's best kite surfers came to compete for number 1 kite surfer. As we got nearer to the beach, I could see loads of kites in the air, I would say at least a hundred. They had closed the road off and there was a giant Red Bull stand where someone was making announcements about what was going on. The beach was packed but we headed onto the beach and managed to find a space to stand and watch the competition. I have never watched kite surfing before, and I found myself mesmerised by the standard as well as

the thrill of it. The amount of air they got from their jumps was amazing as well as the way they landed. The wind was so strong, the sand was blowing up everywhere yet the control they showed with these kites was impeccable. There were a few falls, but no one was injured thankfully, although the majority seemed flawless. I laid there watching the competition and sunbathing for around 2 hours before I headed back to grab some dinner at the hostel which was mac ‘n’ cheese tonight.

We were going to have a quiet night in tonight but considering it is my birthday tomorrow and a lot of people are going out as it is 2 for 1 drinks all night tonight, I thought I would join them. So, this is where I am going to leave you, so I can get ready and go have a boogie!
